Breakthrough: Yoke Pavilion hammers toward completion

Two Hoosier brothers, Joel Kirk [Founder & Executive Director of Discovering Broadway] and Phil Kirk [Team Leader of Kirk Realty Team], have kicked their Garfield Park redevelopment project into high gear. Located a stone’s throw from Indianapolis’ 128-acre Garfield Park, the Red Line transit, and the Indiana Pacers Bike-share – Yoke Pavilion is quickly evolving into what the Kirk brothers hope will become a pillar of neighborhood pride and a local catalyst of innovation & creativity.

Purchased in March of 2022 and already ahead of schedule, this 12-month redevelopment project is only in its seventh month of conception and renovation. Yoke Pavilion will house several local small businesses, short-term housing for artists and Garfield Park visitors, as well as a public art gallery, studio spaces, and co-working for local creatives.

Yoke Pavilion’s strategic priorities include (1) incorporating the pride and history of Garfield Park into the fabric of these spaces, (2) honoring and maintaining the historical features of the building, (3) enhancing the beauty of Garfield Park that already exists, and (4) catalyzing local artists and local entrepreneurs to empower the Garfield Park neighborhood.
